Nature Walk

This blog has been viewed by 222 visitor(s) It was raining in the afternoon today. At about 6 PM, the rain stopped and I decided to take a 'nature' walk around my neighbourhood. Subang is not characteristically known to afford a very 'nature' kind of experience given that it has developed so rapidly of recent years. Still, I decided to try (where was once a laterite field in front of my house and I used to BMX in it during primary school days is now overgrown with 'semak-samun' and quite possibly also a 'sarang penyamun'). I started with the garden at the back of my house. There, is a soil bed that was the graveyard for my numereous pets throughout my childhood and is now home to my mum's pandan plant. And the following are some shots in the 'semak' area in front of my house. The below shot of some weird tree gave me the impression of a great big fat ominous mothership of slug-like aliens poising itself to enter third earth's atmosphere for the colonization of mankind. Another angle - now it looks (slightly) more like a plant and less like a living-breathing UFO. Speaking of slugs, here's a shot of a slug and a moth - best of friends. Macam Protoss Reaver and Carrier (Starcraft joke, nevermind). Continuing along the storyline of aliens and spaceships - this abandoned shoe is like something that crash landed in the fertile O2-rich forest of planet Zargon. Another shot of the abandoned shoe - from this angle, I'm reminded of the Famous Five (the book series by Enid Blyton) and the spirit of boyish adventure I have long left behind. Here is a hook that reminds me of 'I know what you did last summer' (and the subsequent instalments 'I still know' and 'Cmon la I still know la'). I really really need to learn how to take good pictures of this plant (tried many times liao) as it's so hard getting a clear shot given that they're always bobbing to the wind. Trouble is, I love this plant - they're everywhere and so darn whimsical. A discarded piece of concrete, hugged by little yellow daisies. This place is full of discarded junk! Check the below out. It bet it's like the ultimate terrarium that serves as a town hall or something for slugs, snails, worms, milipides, frogs and waramashit to discuss who gets to eat the fungus off the decomposing shoe. Finally, my walk brought me to this imposing 'thing'. I'm not sure if it used to be a tree, or if it was a skeletal man-made frame that's now cloaked in a shroud of trailing plants. From this angle, it looks like a Seraphim (a type of Angel - go wiki it my friends). The mosquitoes are eating me alive! And they're green! What sort of abominable species are these? Arggh! Bye! leave me a message
