This blog has been viewed by 194 visitor(s) Did you know that the name Phuket originated from the Malay word 'Bukit' which means hill, as this is what the island appears to be like from a distance? Yes, I found this out through Wiki. Whoever said Phuket was cheap was dead wrong. Every meal costs up to RM 60 and every tuk tuk or taxi ride costs up to RM 20. In short, it is tourist hell. We stayed in Patong beach for the whole week, and I am damn broke now. On the first day, we walked around Patong and we were given a warm mata lazer welcome by a local. "Siamese cat says wadup" Lotuses abound in Thailand, and this was taken off a sidewalk. In Thailand, mat sallehs are known as 'Pharangs', and it means roughly the same as 'Gwailo'. Almost every single, male gwailo is accompanied by a local 'escort', which so far all happens to be butt ugly (every single, male Chinese meanwhile is busy bargaining with the Tuk Tuk operators for lower price). Patong is the busiest, most touristy location in all of Phuket. The stuff here is DAMP expensive. The beach is so so but the sand is (still) quite clean lah. "Sunset at Patong Beach." On day 2, we visited the zoo. We did that because it was RAINING @#$. "Come stroke my LDA." The zoo was quite pathetic la. The condition was pretty run down and it was sad seeing the animals in those filthy cages. "Statuate at the zoo appears to be crying." One redeeming feature however is its orchid garden. "Atchoo." In the evening, we visited Promthep Cape. This is probably the most beautiful place we've seen in all of Asia, rivalling the likes of Californian coastlines. Promthep Cape by the way is the southern-most tip of Phuket. It starts with a trek down the hills. "At the entrance to the cape." "Three monks meditating, the one on the right was listening to ipod." "Trek trek startrek." "Boleh lawan mut." "Bulan pun sudah kelihatan..." "Matahari mula set..." "Hampir ke penghujung" "Lambuung" On the third day, we went to Phi Phi island. "While waiting for the boat to arrive" "Sampan." "Karam beb!! Karam!!" On day 4 and 5, we went shopping until my feet hancur berkecai. That in a nutshell, was our vacation to @#$ Phuket. I'll try to write a more comprehensive review/travelogue/guide for future explorers of the Land of Pimp (hendrix joke), when I have the time (I still have lots more pictures of orchids and land/urban scapes to share anyway) . Other than Promthep Cape (and the fresh cut mango, fresh mango juice, mango sticky rice, and more mamamamango....) we both agree that for this vacation, boleh laambuung!! leave me a message
